Located in southwestern Ethiopia, close to the border with South Sudan, it is administratively part of the Southwest Ethiopia Region. The capital is Bebeka.

  • Ecology: It is famous for its high rate of virgin forest coverage. It is part of the Kaffa Forest and is listed as an ecological reserve by the United Nations. The forest shade planting model reduces human intervention and protects biodiversity.

  • Climate and Altitude: The altitude range is wide (1700-2069 meters). High altitude slows down the ripening of coffee fruits and accumulates more flavor substances. The climate is mild, with an average annual temperature of 16°C and rainfall of 1237 mm. The dry season (December to March) is suitable for sun drying.

  • Processing method: Traditional sun drying, retaining the pulp for fermentation, giving the coffee a rich fruity aroma.
